Sand separators

Sand separators

Grit separators are equipment designed to remove sand, sludge, and heavy insoluble particles from wastewater. They are installed in the initial stages of wastewater treatment plants after the screens to protect pumping equipment and other mechanisms from abrasive wear.

The principle of operation of the separator is based on slowing down the flow of water, as a result of which sand and mineral particles settle to the bottom of the tank. The settled sand is collected by special augers or pumps and transported for further disposal. The use of separators allows to increase the efficiency of treatment facilities and prevent damage to equipment.
